Ing. Tomáš Urban

He was born in 1960 in Čeladná. He studied at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, majoring in electronic computers; he graduated in 1983. He also studied mathematical analysis at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, where he later worked as a technician in a computer centre, but also as an assistant professor and a lecturer. From 1991, he held managerial positions in companies focusing on ICT services, including Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, and PwC. In 2009, he became the Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia of Det Norske Veritas, one of the three largest companies in the world dealing with audits and evaluations of ISO standards, quality of corporate governance, risk management, as well as environmental assessment. From December 2014, he worked at the Czech Environmental Inspectorate as Director of the economic, organizational and technical support section and Director of the Prague Regional Inspectorate. He is a member of the independent non-profit association ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and itSMF International (The IT Service Management Forum). He is a certified auditor for ISO 9001 (management quality) and ISO 27001 (information security) standards. In his free time, he attends cultural events, studies, and works in his workshop. He is married and has two children.
